Brown Hair with Highlights Equals Dimension by David Barron

September 7, 2013 by David Barron

Have you ever wondered what your stylist means when he or she asks if you want “dimension” in your  hair?  The short answer is it means multiple colors versus one solid, all over color.  The best example to work from is brown hair with highlights.  A typical brunette has one solid color all over.  If you want “dimension” that usually refers to adding highlights or lowlights or both.  By adding multiple colors to any hair color that is one solid color, your hair tends to look like it has more movement and interest.  Adding a few subtle highlights or lowlights, particularly on brown hair, can make a huge difference in your appearance. We have included photos of Penelope Cruz without and without highlights to show the difference. So the next time your stylist asks do you want dimension, you can be prepared to answer yes or no!
