Transforming your hair with extensions isn’t just about adding length—it’s about creating a seamless, beautiful look that blends effortlessly with your natural hair. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at a recent two-day extensions transformation with our guest, April.
April has been getting extensions for about three years, and you can see how healthy her hair is... beautiful and full with very little breakage.
Day 1: Out with the Old, In with the New
The first day is all about preparing the hair for the new set of hair extensions.
Step 1 – Take Out the Old Extensions
April arrived with long hair and existing extensions that had grown out. David began by gently removing the old extensions to avoid damage and preserve the health of her natural hair.
Step 2 – Fresh Base Color and Highlights
Once the extensions were removed, David refreshed April’s base color and added highlights to create a dimensional, vibrant foundation for the new look.
Step 3 – Heat and Wait
Step 3 – Heat and WaitTo help the color process evenly and efficiently, David used an infrared haircolor processor—a gentle, heat-assisted device that improves color penetration without overheating the hair.
Step 4 – Rinse, Wash + Glaze
After processing, April’s hair was treated to a color-safe cleanse using Keune After Color Shampoo, followed by Keratherapy Moisture Conditioner to hydrate and strengthen. A custom glaze was also applied to enhance shine and tone.
Step 5 – Blow Dry
Once clean and conditioned, David blow-dried April’s hair to prep it for styling and check how the color and tone came through.
Step 6 – Style and Straighten
He finished the day by straightening the hair for a smooth, healthy look—giving a preview of how beautiful April’s natural hair is on its own.
Day 2: The Extensions Install
With the hair prepped and ready, day two was all about building volume and length. April was back again for the installment of her hair extensions. We pressed her hair out in preparation for putting the extensions in—which will be a little past her shoulders and nice and full.
Step 7 – Install the Extensions
Step 7 – Install the ExtensionsDavid applied between 150 to 200 extension tips, blending them seamlessly into April’s natural hair. The length was taken just past her shoulders, with a full-bodied finish.
Step 8 – Haircut and Blunt Cut Finish
After the extensions were installed, David gave April a precision trim and a blunt cut at the back to blend everything beautifully and polish the final shape.
Step 9 – Happy Client!
The result? A gorgeous transformation with healthy, voluminous hair and a natural look that complements April’s features—and her lifestyle.
