No heat, no glue
strands secured with small beads only

Interlink hair extensions, also known as cold fusion or microbead extensions, secure small sections of extension hair to your own using tiny beads that are clamped closed. No heat and no adhesive are used at any point, which is why many clients choose interlink when they want length and volume with the gentlest possible attachment.

How it works

Secured with beads, not heat or adhesive

A small bead is threaded onto a section of your natural hair along with the extension strand, then clamped closed to hold it in place. That is the entire attachment. Nothing is melted, glued or taped, and the beads can be opened, moved up and reused as your hair grows.

Because there is no adhesive, interlink is often the method of choice for clients who have reacted badly to bonds before, who want to avoid heat near the hair completely, or who simply prefer the flexibility of an attachment that can be undone cleanly.

Interlink also works well on finer hair when it is installed by a skilled stylist and spaced properly, so weight is distributed across many small attachment points rather than pulling on one spot.

Is it right for you?

Who interlink extensions suit best

A strong fit if
  • You want no heat and no adhesive used on your hair at any stage.
  • You like that the attachment can be opened, moved up and the hair reused.
  • You have had a poor experience with bonded or taped methods before.
  • You want flexibility to adjust placement as your hair and needs change.
Consider another method if
  • You want the absolute most invisible finish, where fusion generally has the edge.
  • You want the longest possible stretch between salon visits; fusion move-ups are less frequent.
  • Your hair cannot yet take the tension of beads, which we assess honestly first.
  • You want the quickest possible appointment, where tape-in is faster.

How an interlink fitting works

A consultation is required before any extension service, so we can assess your hair, match color and confirm interlink is the right method for you.

01
Consultation

We evaluate hair history, lifestyle, maintenance expectations and goals, then match color and texture precisely before anything is ordered.

02
Order & map

Hair is ordered to match and placement is mapped so bead rows sit comfortably and weight is spread across many points, never concentrated.

03
Bead & clamp

Each bead is threaded with your hair and the extension strand, then clamped closed. No heat and no adhesive at any stage.

04
Cut, blend & plan

The set is cut and blended so it moves as one with your own hair, then we book your move-up and set your home care routine.

Why Barron’s

Beads are gentle. Bad spacing is not.

Interlink is the gentlest attachment we fit, but it is only gentle when it is spaced correctly. Beads clustered too tightly, clamped too hard, or loaded with more hair than a section can carry will cause tension, and tension is what causes trouble.

David Barron trained at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in London and trains the whole team to one standard. Every set is mapped carefully, trimmed thoughtfully, and supported with a maintenance plan designed for real life in Atlanta.

You will get an honest answer about whether interlink is right for your hair, including if the answer is no. That judgement is what decades of doing this buys you.

Maintenance

Keep the rows comfortable and clean

Interlink is low-drama to live with. The routine is mostly about keeping tension off the beads and keeping the rows clean.

  • Brush daily with an extension-safe brush, holding the hair above the beads so you never pull on a row.
  • Use sulfate-free shampoo and wash in the direction of the rows rather than scrubbing across them.
  • Dry the rows properly so beads are not left sitting damp against the scalp.
  • Tie hair loosely for workouts and sleep, and never sleep on soaking wet hair.
  • Keep your move-ups. As your hair grows the beads slide down; leaving them too long causes tangling and stress.

Interlink Hair Extension FAQ

What are interlink hair extensions?
Interlink extensions, also called cold fusion or microbead extensions, attach extension hair to your own using small beads that are clamped closed. No heat and no adhesive are used at any point in the process.
Is interlink the same as cold fusion, microbead or micro-link?
Yes. Cold fusion, microbead, micro-link and interlink all describe the same family of method, where strands are secured with small clamped beads rather than heat or glue.
Do interlink extensions damage your hair?
Interlink is the gentlest attachment we fit because nothing is melted or glued, but it still relies on correct spacing and tension. Beads clustered too tightly or overloaded will pull. Fitted and spaced properly by a skilled stylist, interlink is kind to your hair.
How often do interlink extensions need moving up?
Typically around every six to ten weeks. As your hair grows the beads travel down, so they are opened, moved back up and the same hair is reused.
Can interlink extensions work on fine or thin hair?
Yes, when they are installed by a skilled stylist and spaced to avoid concentrating weight on one spot. For very fine hair we will also talk you through nano rings and thin tape-in panels, which spread weight across many small points.
What is the difference between interlink and fusion extensions?
Interlink uses clamped beads and no heat or adhesive, and the beads are reusable at each move-up. Fusion bonds keratin-tipped strands using heat for a slightly more seamless finish and longer gaps between appointments. We help you choose based on your hair and routine.
Do you fit interlink extensions for clients outside Buckhead?
Yes. Clients come to our Buckhead salon from across Atlanta, Brookhaven, Vinings, Dunwoody, Druid Hills and the Emory area.
